Morning walk in Athens

...before the chaos begins...

So we're in Athens. And that might sound all glamourous and exciting, but the fact is that this is basically what I've managed to see so far of the city. That, and a bunch of big important people in suits who talk a lot and do less. And of course, women with big hair.

Pussies galore

Not a great photo. Not easy to take photos with a migraine, bad light and small automatic camera. But the shop is great. And I love the name of it...

I like you

Someone painted this recently on the street around the corner from where I live. They seem to have been running out of paint towards the end...

Comfort food

Ok, ok, I know there've been a lot of food photos lately. But after a weekend of great food, my tastebuds have been re-awakened so I needed something yummy but quick. This is one of our favourite comfort foods. It's quick, it's simple and it's super tasty! Pasta with roast pumpkin, home-made pesto with macadamia nuts, baked ricotta, a bit of parmesan - and that's it. It's so easy to throw together and it hits the spot! (We actually had a version of this on the weekend, but I never get sick of it.) Since it's a classic, I thought it was worth sharing. :)
Besides, I'm knackered from the weekend and need to go to bed, so I can't think of any other creative motives... hrm.

Boule

Ways of spending a few hours on a Sunday afternoon. I believe the game was rigged. And there was some definite ball tampering going on.

Coffee buds and a bug

Got up in the morning and went for a little walk. Found these little buds on a coffee bush and a little bug going for a wander amongst them...

Recipe for a pleasant evening

Mix eggs and good flour together and make a smooth dough. Run through pasta machine and create smooth, golden strips of pasta...

Get some good ingredients together, have a glass of nice crisp white wine, get the pasta boiling.

Mix the ingredients together, enjoy with a glass of nice red wine and good company!
Done!

Eat poo?

Hm, found this in the city. You wonder sometimes what motivates people to go through the effort of writing something on a wall, and then choose something like this.
- But, each to their own I guess...

Old building

An old abandoned building... Looks a bit scary now, but it would be quite a beautiful building if it was made up.

I've been slack with the photos lately. I need to make more of an effort to go out and shoot. I took this one as I was waiting at a red light. Hrm.
- Better photos will come this weekend. That's a promise!

A winner's kiss

We went to the Amnesty trivia night tonight... and we won! Wohoo!
- In your face Richie Cunningham!
Ok, Teddy didn't contribute too much, but he's still kissing one of the prices we won to symbolise our joy and pride.

Oh, and by the way, the next UN Secretary General is from S. Korea, Carthage is in Tunisia, Kigali is the capital of Rwanda, Borat is from Kazakhstan, Bush's daughter is Barbara, Princess Diana, Marilyn Monroe and Bob Marley died at the age of 36, "O, beware, my lord, of jealousy; It is the green-eyed monster" is a quote from Othello and Lenin died 1924.

You can't see me...

Found this little crab on the beach. He tried to run away and then all of a sudden he stopped and sat very very still. He looked at me as I was taking a photo of him and didn't move an inch. I bet he was thinking "You can't see me. I am just sand, ok?"
We were almost fooled...

Best breakfast in the world?

I don't mean to bag the potato feta hash cakes, ok? But this is pretty damn good...

Two blokes and the sea

Breakfast at Season.
We're on a little mini-holiday. Yay!
Feel very spoilt. Beautiful coffee, yummy food, gorgeous view. Not a bad way to start the weekend...
This place will always hold a special place in my heart. Many good memories... :-)

Tonight we were winners! Wohoo! (I also gained some nasty bruises on both my legs. But hey, that's a price you gotta be willing to pay.)

Crazy kittens

Our neighbours' kittens have claimed our balcony as their own. This means that our pot plants are theirs. They mustn't have liked this particular pot plant, cos they pulled it down so the pot broke, then proceeded to scratch all the soil and roots of the plant and toss the plants on the ground...

Oooh

Espresso martinis are bad for your head... Berty made me do it! And they are so irresistibly yummy...
It was a good night. Most excellent... Cocktails, champagne (pour tout le monde!), dancing and making so many new friends... Don't forget Berty - 13 sleeps!
... And I can't believe they played "Funky cold medina"...

For Maria

This is for you Maria. And Emma of course! :-)
The Jacarandas - the purple trees - are in bloom. A sure sign of spring. Pretty, isn't it?
I'll try to take another picture later in the season when they've dropped their flowers...

City lights

Seems like I forgot to post a photo last night. Had too many other things on my mind. But this was my view cycling home from work. The photo isn't great and it doesn't do the view justice. And I would say that I love cycling to and from work now... if it wasn't for the fact that my butt hurts...
